Evaluation

Overall character
?
This subjective aspect is dependent on each individual's perspective. A town house with elegant decorative features or any property with romantic aspects can be considered as charming. Note that a modern property with carefully designed architecture featuring large rooms and picture windows can also have a lot of charm.

Light
?
The deeper the property, and the more blind walls it has (gables without windows), the darker it will be. On the other hand, large well-placed picture windows will provide good light. Beyond these objective aspects there is a certain amount of subjectivity which is a matter of personal preference.

Unobstructed view
?
For information, an unobstructed view is considered "exceptional" if it is at least a 180° view of nature in the countryside, with no properties opposite, or alternatively of a historic square in a town/city. A "sea view" is also "exceptional". On the other hand, an apartment/flat opening out onto a street planted with trees or onto the inside of a street block, a house with a view of neighbours' roofs beyond the property's garden are examples of "normal" views.

Possible inconvenience

Noise pollution
?
Close to an airport, factory, motorway, tram line, station, etc.

Closed neighbourhood
?
Main façade and/or garden with a closed neighbourhood or from neighbouring properties. Does not apply to small houses in towns/cities where it is acceptable to have a property with a view over or from neighbouring properties to some extent.

Water infiltration
?
E.g. rising damp, pronounced signs of damp, etc.

Environment / neighbourhood
?
For information, a poor environment could be a high personal safety risk in your neighbourhood, but also a bus stop just in front of your front door, your terrace giving onto the end of a tunnel with pollution emanating from it, a run-down property or factory located in the immediate vicinity of your property, etc.
